MOStlyCE is the default "What You See Is What You Get", WYSIWYG, editor for MiaCMS. Before MiaCMS is was the default editor for Mambo. MOStlyCE is based on the TinyMCE editor released by Moxicode. MOStlyCE is a customized version of TinyMCE built and maintained specifically for MiaCMS. TinyMCE itself is not modified, but rather packaged and extended specifically for use by MiaCMS users. MOStlyCE is distributed with MiaCMS and thus requires no separate installation. However, MOStlyCE is maintained as a separate extension so that it can be updated and released outside of larger MiaCMS core releases. This also has the added benefit of allowing us to keep the MOStlyCE releases more closely aligned with the releases done by the TinyMCE team.
Below are the steps to upgrade MOStlyCE in between MiaCMS core releases should you choose to do so. You may wish to do this because of various bug fixes, browser compatibility issues, and/or security concerns.
Upgrade Steps:
Note: it is important to carefully follow the following steps to ensure your upgrade goes smoothly.
1) Backup your site
2) You must completely remove your old version of MOStlyCE before installing the latest version. This is not an upgrade that just overwrites files! There are three parts that must be removed from the system. You can remove each with the built in MiaCMS Universal Installer.
3) Because of various server configurations and file permissions the Universal Uninstaller is not always able to fully remove all the files during the uninstall. Therefore, to be safe you should manually check and remove any left over files. To do this use your FTP client and/or hosting company's file manager to make sure the following files and directories are not present and if the are then remove them:
4) Download the latest version of MOStlyCE from the Sourceforge project page.
5) On the MiaCMS Admin menu navigate to Installers->Universal. Browse for the downloaded MOStlyCE zip file and click the "Upload File & Install" button. If all goes well you should see a success message.
6) You must toggle the editor on and off to reactivate it. On the MiaCMS Admin menu navigate to Site->Global Configuration. Find the "WYSIWYG Editor" dropdown and choose "No WYSIWYG Editor". Then click apply. Now go back to the "WYSIWYG Editor" dropdown and select "MOStlyCE". Click save. The global configuration file will need to be writeable before these changes will take effect.
7) Clear your browsers cache to clean out all the old editor files.
8) Now check to verify you have a successful installation. Act like you are going to edit an existing content item and/or create a new content item to verify that the editor loads up properly. Once loaded up click on the blue help (question mark) button on the editor to confirm what version it is loading. The reported version should match the version your just downloaded via Sourceforge.
That's it. Enjoy the new version. Additional troubleshooting tips can be found here. For any issues please post on the forums.
